Merry Christmas and welcome to Christmas Cards For Kindness. My name is Crystal and I love making greeting cards. What I love even more than making them is knowing that they put a smile on someone's face when they open one of my cards.

So this Christmas season I'm doing something a little special with a few of my cards. My idea is to make one special card for each day in December and send it out to a very deserving person. So here's where you come in...do you know of a special person who deserves one of my cards? Are they sick and need cheering up? Maybe someone you know has gone above & beyond for their community? Have they helped a child in need? Are they a hero in your eyes? If so, send me an email telling me why this person deserves a Christmas Card For Kindness this holiday season. And remember, it doesn't matter how big or small, how old or young or how rich or poor they are...everyone deserves to be recognized for how special they are.

In your email please include your name, city, state/province & email address along with the name & mailing address of the person you are nominating. Photos are also greatly appreciated! Email your nomination to: christmascardsforkindness@gmail.com anytime during the months of November & December 2008. If your letter is chosen, I will contact you immediately and your letter will be published on this site for everyone to read.

Thank you for visiting and I look forward to reading about the people who have left footprints on your heart. And be sure to check back each and every day in December to see who will be receiving a Christmas Card For Kindness.

I also encourage each and every one of you to participate in your own random act of kindness this holiday season. The ideas are endless and so are the smiles.

~Crystal

Let's see how fast we can spread some kindness around the world by passing this site along to everyone you know!

The Kindness Store

Along with Christmas Cards For Kindness, I have also decided to raise some money for one or two charitable organizations by opening The Kindness Store. In this store you can purchase a variety of items at great prices and all proceeds from the sale of these items will go directly to charity.

At this time I have not chosen a charity(s) and am taking suggestions. Please email them to christmascardsforkindness@gmail.com and I will post my decision when I make one.

So stop by The Kindness Store by clicking on the link on the sidebar or here at http://www.cafepress.com/ccfk.

December 10 CCFK Winner!

I appreciate the opportunity to acknowledge my friend Lee Pinnell. Lee works as a dental hygienist. She does an extraordinary job of cleaning teeth and is accommodating with her patients. I have heard her encouraging comments to her co-workers and witnessed her calming gentleness with children. Lee truly shows interest in families; each visit she asks how each family member is doing. Our granddaughters travel from Tokyo to visit Lee. She brought some home-baked cookies to our home for them to decorate during their visit to Canada. I admire Lee's good heart and kindness. When Lee faces hardship she has a strong faith in God and believes in prayer. Lee's tenderness has brought tears to my eyes.

December 5 CCFK Winner!

I nominate my husband Steve Brand. Our third child was born this year, and our oldest is about to turn four. He has been my labour coach for all three of our children's births. When I was pregnant with our first child, Steve took a specialized course on how to coach me through labour. His dedication to me and our children is the solid foundation we are building our family on. Having three kids in 3.5 years has resulted in some long tiring days for me as a stay at home mom. Steve gives me the support and love I need to care for the kids and our home.

At work, Steve is well known for being dependable, honest, and hard working. He is a humble man who does what he does with integrity.
Before we had kids, Steve had lung problems and had to have surgeries to repair it. His attitude was amazing. He was so happy and positive through the process, amazing our families as well as the medical staff working with him.

Steve is my best friend, the kind of Dad the plays on the floor with his kids, opens our home to anyone who needs a friend, and tries to brighten the day of a grumpy cashier.

Yesterday I had a really hard day. I was sick and the kids were demanding. Steve came home and brought me chocolate, ordered pizza, helped me with the kids and getting the house organized, and did A LOT of laundry. This is just one example of how he comes along side of me, takes my hand and keeps me going when I want to quit.

December 2 CCFK Winner!

So my nomination is my mom. i have put her through a lot this year (mostly my beautiful baby girl who is her grandbaby ;-) ) and think that she deserves a little gift for being someone who stood by my side while i was single and pregnant, she stood by my side when i was dumped at 3 months pregnant and has helped me through all the bumps i have had to go through while becoming a mom. My mom and dad (better not forget him) have done so much for me this past year that i could never give them enough thanks!!!

December 1 CCFK Winner!

The person that I would like to nominate is Mrs Sharon Symes from Paradise Valley Alberta. Sharon has been working at the Treasury Branch for many, many years in our Village. She absolutly loves her job and the interaction that she has with her customers. She has often said that if she won the lottery she would not quit her job, as it is the reason she gets out of bed in the morning. She does not plan on retiring for many years yet.Even with her own battles with cancer over the years, she was in her office, often resting on a cot that she kept in the back. That is dedication to your work! I have seen Sharon outside in the winter putting new registartion tags on the vehicles of her elderly customers. And she treats all the youth in town as if they are one of her own. She has pictures of all the local kids inside her office. She keeps track of their accounts. Often when the kids grow up and move off on their own, they are shocked that the other bankers do not take care of them like Sharon does. "What do you mean I need to know my account number? Sharon knows it" Sharon is also very active in community fundraising for very worthy causes. Year after year her small Treasury Branch Agency is the top fundraiser for the Childrens Stollery Hospital in Edmonton. She devotes hours of her own time to planning special steak suppers or fundraising lunches to raise money for the Stollery.Sharon also headed up the Paradise Valley Beautification Group, as a way to make our Village prettier. She spends hours and hours in her greenhouse growing and planting flowers to be hung around town. Sharons other passions in life are her greenhouses, sewing and her 5 granddaughters. I sincerely hope Sharon knows how loved she is within our community. WE LOVE YOU SHARON!

Coming Close To Dec. 1

We are coming real close to December 1 and have only had one story. So if by then I have not received any further emails, I am going to have to ditch the idea. I am really happy to know I have the support of family & friends on this but maybe I just started this too late. Guess I could try again next year.

I will definately be sending a card out to the person who was nominated as they are truely deserving and will post more about it on December 1.

November 27 And No Letters Yet

Hi all...when I got the idea for the Christmas Cards For Kindness I really thought it was a good idea and one that people would jump at the chance to be a part of. I thought the letters would come rolling in from people who wanted to recognize someone who has made an impact on their life, big or small. But at this time I'm sad to say that I have not received one email. There's still time, I know, so I'm crossing my fingers that the letters will magically start appearing. Thanks to everyone who has visited this site and joined the facebook group to show your support. :0)
